Dr Marie Thomas

Marie is our Welsh doctor who completed her training in the UK, before moving to New Zealand in 2008, where she worked as a hospital doctor. She retrained as a GP in 2008 and undertook her training at Dunedin South Medical Centre before joining the team as a fully qualified GP in December 2020.

Marie is passionate about offering people good quality clinical care, with empathy and kindness, regardless of ethnicity or socio-economic status. She believes good quality clinical care should be something every New Zealander has access to.

Dunedin South Medical Centre has a real team approach, with every member valued for what they bring to the practice and their unique skills and knowledge. For Marie, everyone at DSMC values having the ability to offer their clients continuity of care. It’s rewarding to be able to offer it, as you can build trusting relationships, help advocate for patients and support them in navigating the health system when needed.
