Dr Emma Laurence
Doctor
Emma qualified as a doctor in the UK in 2007, where she went to work in several specialities including elderly medicine, psychiatry, ED and surgery. From there, she chose to train in general practice in 2012 and joined the DSMC team. With some periods away on maternity leave and a stint in Auckland, she always came back to DSMC and became a partner in 2018.
Emma and the team at DSMC are a hardworking group, who care for their patients and bring a sense of humour to every day. She likes working in health, as it gives her a strong sense of purpose and is an ever-changing field that encourages life-long learning.
For Emma, it’s humbling to have the trust of her patients. To have those close relationships, where people feel they can share sensitive information is very important. That’s why Dunedin South Medical Centre tries to help everyone see their family doctor if they can.
